Building Produce Brands That Compete Beyond the Produce Aisle
Fresh produce does not compete only with the item sitting beside it. It competes for attention with every product and brand a shopper encounters throughout the store.
That was the larger challenge explored by Molly Pop co-founder and chief marketing officer John Cymbal and a panel of produce marketing leaders at the East Coast Produce Expo. The conversation focused on moving beyond a commodity mindset, building emotional equity and giving consumers a memorable reason to choose one product over another.
For Molly Pop, the strategy is visible in every part of the experience: consistent quality, recognizable pink packaging, clear flavor promises and a voice that treats healthy food as exciting rather than obligatory. Strong produce brands can still communicate freshness and value, but they can also create desire, loyalty and a sense of connection.
